Day 2 - Java

Flew to Java this morning ready to help out with some amazing animals.
Lots of fun working with the conservation organisation Yogyakarta Wildlife Rescue Centre and with a local community near Taman Nasional Bali Barat.

The afternoon consisted of an awesome trek called Kawah Ijen. It started with exploring the coffee plantations and undulating trails created by the volcanic landscape. We then moved out of the farm
land, the terrain become steeper as we begin the ascent to the top of the crater leading up to the sulphur lake of Kawah Ijen. The highest point of the crater is 2368m and offered amazing views of the surrounding scenery. The lake at the top is full of water that is infused with the sulphur that comes out of the volcano. Because of all the sulphur the lake has a strange colour and the area had this strong smell of eggs. Needless to say I didn't jump in for a smelly swim.
